Poor Importing
I have been using the desktop version for about a year now. The reason I dont like it is that it does not import my credit union data properly. For 19 out of 20 transactions, it puts the payee in the memo field, and the name of the credit union (Numerica Credit Union) in the payee field. I have to fix that on each transaction. This means that it also does not know which bucket to put the transactions in. It is very tedious to have to fix this on almost all of the transactions that it downloads.
I contacted No Thirst Software about the import problem, but they blamed it on my credit union. But I had used Quicken for years and had not had this problem. Then I used Quicken Essentials for a year or two and did not have this problem. Before deciding on MoneyWell, I tried iBank and did not have this problem. (If I recall, iBank actually lets you adjust the import template.) I think the only reason I finally decided on Moneywell is that it was a little cheaper, but now I wish I had gone with iBank.
The other thing that makes the import screen more tedious to use than others is that you have to clear transactions with a pull-down menu, rather than a checkbox. And once clear with the "reconciled" choice, you can not make changes without first changing "reconciled" to something else -- including information in the Memo field.
I also bought the Moneywell app, but have not tried it. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems like a good app so maybe I should give it a try.
